Now, this one goes back to a few months ago back at the Royce Hall on the UCLA campus...

I was absolutely stoked when I found out the Residents were playing Royce Hall in support of their DVD release,"Icky Flix"...I was jumping for joy...I wasn't sure what to expect, who would, this is the Residents after all...Only one thing can be expected, the eyeball heads and surreal atmosphere you've come expect from their live shows...

So I sat and waited, this was a major event for me, I'd been into the Residents since I was 17, 8 years later, finally, I get to see them...

The lights went dim and one of the Residents dressed in his penguin tuxedo and eyeball mask came out...The audience went nuts clapping and cheering...He acted taken aback by the reaction and waved...Down came the projector screen and he pulled out a remote control...This was, afterall,a promo tour for the new DVD... The rest of the reclusive memebers of the band were filed behind the curtain as the first video was selected..."Third Reich and Roll",then "Hello Skinny" if I'm not mistaken...

From there, the set was all over the place but all the videos from the now out of print "Video Voodoo",a few clips from the cd rom discs"the Gingerbreadman","Bad Day On The Mid-way" and "Freak Show" and their last full length,"WormWood" made up the set...I can't remember how the list went but they played

"Stars and Stripes Forever","Harry The Head" one of the songs from "Title In Limbo","This is a Man's World" (Sung by the female singer they brought along with them.)...All around,it was a greatest hits night, but they played them brilliantly as you'd expect them to,not always by the original structure but not too far off (They had to make sure they kept it somewhat in synch with the video clips.)
